Introducing Samantha Charles

Tuesday, January 24th, 2012

Hey All,

I’ve been wanting to wait until Selena and I were further along in the production of my first pitch with her, but I couldn’t resist after I reviewed her character sketches.

Meet Samantha Charles – the next great heroine in creator-owned comics (I hope!). All I’ll reveal for now is the high concept for this pitch. It’s Twin Peaks meets Toy Story.

Selena Goulding is a wildly talented artist and I feel lucky to have found her. This has been an extremely enjoyable collaboration and we can’t wait to unveil this pitch at Emerald City Comic Con.

Stay tuned for more updates on this project…

LUCID PROOF

Monday, January 2nd, 2012

Happy New Year All!!!

I have some exciting news that’s a great way to kick off 2012. One of my pitches was recently accepted for publication by a great Chicago-based startup publisher – Juxtaposed Publishing. They plan to initially release five titles digitally to start. Four 24pg issues with 2 pages posting a week until each issue is complete at which point they plan to print 1000 copies. Depending on the site traffic, they may or may not hold off on the individual print runs until the whole series is online and print it as a trade.

I think this delivery system has a lot of potential and the readership is extremely accessible via outlets such as Twitter and Facebook. The icing on the cake is that each title will have its own individual site that will be designed, maintained, and updated by the publisher. I feel extremely fortunate to have my work amongst some fantastic creators. Each title appears to be dynamically different in both tone and art which is casting a wide net to sweep up a diverse readership when the site officially launches in June. Very exciting stuff.

2012 is proving to be a solid year of creator-owned/DIY comics. I have high hopes for this year.

Stay tuned…in the meantime you can view the creative team behind LUCID PROOF as well as the other titles that have currently been announced.
